Serve Asia Individual Placements (2 Weeks to 6 Months)

• Family or individual vision trips for exploring future ministry opportunities.
• Internships for school credit (TESOL, counseling, church planting, etc).
• Professional placements (medical work, university lecturing, English Teaching, home-school teaching, counseling, technology support, etc.)

Application Deadlines:
For 2 week to 3 month trips, please apply at least three months ahead.
For 3 - 6 month opportunities, please apply at least six months ahead. The earlier you apply, the better.

How do I get started?

1. Learn about Serve Asia. Read through the information below and find the Steps of the Serve Asia Journey to get an overview of the program.

2. Help us learn about you. Getting to know you will help us to give you a basic idea of options we can look into after you apply. Call or e-mail us and answer the following questions. (Please keep in mind that at some points during the year, it may take us two to three weeks to get back to you with options.)

• When: Tell us what month(s), specific dates and length of time you have available for your trip.
• Who & Where: List any countries, areas, religions, people groups, or age groups where you would like to focus your service.
• What: What professional training, skills, gifts or experiences do you have that may contribute to your ability to serve overseas? (Please include language abilities.) In what areas of ministry have you been involved through your church?
• Why: Tell us a little about your goals and why you would like to invest in a trip to East Asia.
  Other notes: List specific questions or hesitations you have at this point about going overseas.

When can I go? Opportunities and needs vary throughout the year.
Summer placements: If you are seeking a summer placement, please consider joining a National summer team , and then extending your stay. Due to the volume of summer teams, it is difficult for us to place and care for individuals from June through August. However, we are usually able to place individuals seeking internship credit during summer.

When should I send an application? Our ability to place you may depend on your available dates and ministry/professional experience, as well as available openings overseas. Since we have such a broad range of available opportunities, it will expedite the process if we receive your application first so we can personally discuss the options with you and your hosts. If you do not feel ready to send and application, please email us a resume and answers to the questions listed above.

Can I get internship credit? Many students today can get school credit through overseas experience. Send us a description of your requirements to see what may be available for you.

What if I don't see what I'm looking for? Contact us at serve@omf.org and follow the application directions above. This will help us to discuss your interests, abilities and future goals, and explain different opportunities to you. It is very likely we may have an opportunity for just what you’re hoping to do!
